Timberharp
Therapeutic Musical Sculptures
Immerse yourself in the soothing melodies of a Timberharp.
Crafted from solid wood in an elegant elliptical shape, this unique instrument produces soothing
and uplifting music when played.
Perfect for children and adults of all abilities, Timberharps offer an inspiring and natural experience.
Its calming tones and variety of instruments will transport you to a state of relaxation wherever you are.

Designed to accompany your sensory journey

Our little boys were able to tolerate a family Boxing Day with 15 people in the house, other children, noise lights and all manner of chaos, as they had the Snug and their Timberharp - which they have both very quickly worked out is something that helps them, which meant we were able to join in with everyone else too - first time ever.So thank you for making something that has made such a difference to all our lives.

We've added dots
To help you locate the 12 pentatonic notes in every Timberharp, we've added locator dots so you can easily find what you want to play.
These dots are made from either Paua shell, sterling silver, or a variety of coloured resins, bright or subtle. You can even choose Glow in the Dark!

On/Off indicator light
To make it easier to tell when your Timberharp is on, we have now included an indicator light to show you that it's ready to play.
We've also improved the start-up time so you can spend less time waiting and more time relaxing. And... breathe.

All new backside
We've completely re-designed the underneath of the latest Timberharp to provide a streamlined appearance that is prettier and more informative.
We've added new wall hanging points, new speaker grills for enhanced structural safety and a nice clear battery read-out so you never need to worry about going flat!
Change Your Tune
Timberharps are fitted with 16 different instruments to choose from.
The instruments are from all around the world, including harps, calming water effects and gentle orchestral sounds.
Each one has been designed by music and therapy experts for their different calming or uplifting effects.
You can also change the echo effect for a more dynamic experience.
And we have included a volume control so you
can easily adjust to your surroundings.

Built to Last
We expect our Timberharps to last a very long time.
We use industrial grade components and
industry-leading rechargeable power packs.
And we test our Timberharps continuously
to make them as robust as possible.
All Timberharps come with a one-year parts guarantee and beyond that we usually make any necessary repairs free of charge.
We’re that confident.

Sustainable Matters
We design and make our own parts using additive
manufacturing processes (aka 3D printing). This uses an eco-friendly alternative to plastic called PLA.
PLA is made from specially stabilised corn starches
and sugars, so it is sustainable, organic and endlessly renewable. It’s also very strong and durable.
The ideal choice for a responsible product.
If you are as interested in 3D printing as we are, feel free to pop into our studio and we can show you exactly how it works. Trust us - it’s mesmerizing to watch!

Powering Up
Don’t worry about travelling with your Timberharp.
Timberharps are powered by a large internal rechargeable battery.
(We use Anker power packs because they are the best in the world.)
You can keep playing for up to two weeks between charges.
And you can recharge them over 500 times - that’s at least ten years of battery life.
Permanent plug-in power options are also available.

Timberharps and Autism
We feel this is our field of expertise.
We have spent years getting to know the behaviour, likes and dislikes of people with autism and have created many Timberharps for autistic children and adults.
We are often approached by parents of autistic children, carers and schools to create sensory sculptures that calm and relax children with anxieties and we build custom-made Timberharps that meet the specific requirements of people with particular sensory needs.
We aim to create objects that are accessible to as many people as possible and would always recommend a visit to the studio.
We can arrange for you a quiet and gentle time for a visit to our calm little studio by the sea, so you can try some Timberharps for themselves.

Timberharps at School
We have worked with and supplied Timberharps for nurseries, schools and colleges since the very beginning. In fact most of our design research has been carried out at special needs schools and our current range of Timberharps are inspired by the young people we have met along the journey.
We think that having a Timberharp in a sensory room is a valuable asset as it can bring a calming natural element into the area. We also enjoy seeing the effect that installing a Timberharp in a public thoroughfare has on anxiety reduction.
We've built custom Timberharps for students with particular needs, often meeting with the person to draw out designs for limited mobility, particular musical preferences or even surface colours and shapes.
We are a small and dynamic team that can usually fulfil any design suggestions and we absolutely love a challenge, particularly if it could improve someone's life.

Timberharps for Therapy
We have worked with therapists since the beginning. Our goal is to help therapists engage with their clients and to help people who are struggling to engage with their surroundings.
Children love them, teenagers engage with them and adults find them surprising, intriguing and delightful. Our partner music therapists, physiotherapists, speech & language therapists and psychotherapists have reported very positive responses from the musical interactions with Timberharps and often tell us how they help their clients or patients access therapy in the following areas:
-
Trauma recovery
-
Stroke recovery
-
Autism & Asperger's Syndrome
-
Physical disabilities including cerebral palsy
-
Spinal injury recovery
-
Personal loss and bereavement

Timberharps and Dementia
At first we were approached by Sussex NHS Trust to create a custom Timberharp for use by dementia patients at a residential ward at Horsham Hospital.
The therapists were immediately delighted by the calming effect that the Timberharp had on their patients, who were able to produce beautiful relaxing music with the very lightest of touches.
The patients were clearly enjoying the feeling of producing their own music so easily, which gave them the incentive to continue far beyond the length of time the staff team were used to with other activities.
Several of the patients were former musicians who had been unable to play any sort of instrument for many years due to their illness and they received great joy from playing with the Timberharps.
